Artist Statement

I create textural, abstract images using photography. Wherever I am, I search for patterns, textures and colors that intrigue me. I find the overlooked details of everyday life and highlight them as beautiful objects in their own right. They are landscapes of the imagination.
Many of my pieces focus on the cultural heritage of the Northwest. The decaying walls of Fort Worden and the rusted pieces of old railway cars paint a fascinating portrait of Washington before the technology boom. The echoes of the past still linger at abandoned ferry docks and mining sites. These places and objects tell their stories quietly. But, armed with a camera, I am able to give them a voice.
